Balancing hobbies and studies has been this girl's success mantra. That Umaika didn't go for any extra coaching makes her achievement all the more commendable."All I did was religiously practise Mathematics an hour every day . I also took piano and dance classes to balance my mind. As of now, I wish to pursue Science," said an overwhelmed Umaika. Speaking of success: Practice makes perfect is what drives Guru Sarjith Senthil, the Computer Science topper from Greenwood High. "This year, we had a new syllabus which was a challenge. But I'm keen on pursuing a career in Computer Science. The best part of the international curriculum is you don't need to go for tuitions because the syllabus is explanatory. Personally, I think tuitions are a big waste of time and money," he said.
Said Ashish Pabba, the allIndia topper in German and a student of TISB: "I paid the same attention to all subjects. I didn't expect to be a country topper though. But I'm not sure how I'll pursue German as my favourite subject is Physics and my dream destination is Massachussets Institute of Technology. I joined the TISB from grade 9 and decided to take German as I found the language interesting." Pavan Kumar Chitta who bagged the first place for any student with eight IGCSE subjects was elated. "I never quite expected this. I was not keeping well today and didn't go to school but was overwhelmed to get a call from my principal who announced the good news," he said.
